The Lost Art of The Backup

Backing Up Sounds and Data
by Robert Braathe

When in a creative mindset, one can tend to forget about backing up critical sounds and data. Backing up is one of those doomsday propositions to many, where if you have it you don’t need it, and if you don’t have it your system crashes.

I found a great way from one of my clients today to get A great interim solution for your sound backup needs.

Typically, I’ve encountered many people who don’t backup any data at all. I personally use the .Mac Backup software, which allows you to backup data to any destination on a regular basis. Regardless of what you choose, the important things to keep in mind when making your backup decisions are how often, how much data to backup, and how much you want to be involved in the process. For those of us in the creative world, the most important things to do are to get a high capacity device to backup to (an iPod or backup harddrive), and to get a program that will remind you to do so.

Robert Braathe created mannerspositivityheroics.com to be a resource dedicated to providing consulting and advice to those who want to make a difference.
